Nigerian Government Collaborates with States to Curb Illegal Arms Proliferation

The Nigerian government and states are enhancing collaboration to combat the proliferation of illegal arms. The Federal Government's National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) is intensifying partnerships with state governments and security agencies to address the growing issue of illicit small arms and light weapons across Nigeria.

The NCCSALW Northeast Zonal Director, Abubakar Adamu, led a delegation to Taraba State to deepen cooperation with Governor Agbu Kefas and other key stakeholders. The focus is on community sensitization, recovery, and destruction of illegal weapons, with an emphasis on intelligence sharing to achieve lasting peace and security nationwide.
