NiMet Forecasts Thundery Weather Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a two-day period of thundery weather across the country. The forecast indicates moderate morning rains transitioning to light rains and isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

Specifically, thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Adamawa, and Taraba states during the afternoon or evening. In the North-central region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated, along with chances of morning light rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Niger states.

The Southern region is expected to have a cloudy atmosphere with moderate morning rains in Ondo, Ebonyi, Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states, progressing to widespread moderate rainfall later in the day. NiMet has urged the public to secure loose objects, activate emergency response systems in flood-prone areas, and avoid driving during heavy rainfall.
