Abia APC Chairman Rejects Candidate Imposition for 2027

Chijiok Chukwu, the chairman of the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserted that no candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections will be selected through imposition. Speaking in Umuahia on Tuesday, he emphasized that the party will not handpick candidates and that the selection process will be strictly among party members.

Chukwu criticized previous practices where candidates were chosen based on connections to the APC headquarters, stating that the party aims to return power to the people. He highlighted the current low representation of the Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency and expressed the need for change.

Additionally, he received aspirants from the constituency, including Mayor Lucki Igbokw, who is part of the Citi Boi Movement, indicating a push for new leadership within the party.
