No Attack on Bishop Kukah’s Residence, Diocese Confirms

The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto issued a statement on Saturday, clarifying that there was no attack on Bishop Matthew Kukah's residence or the Pastoral Centre. This clarification followed the circulation of a viral video that falsely claimed an incident had occurred, which the diocese described as the work of individuals seeking to cause panic and destabilize society.

Pascal Salifu, emphasized that the facilities remain safe, intact, and fully operational. The diocese noted that the video began trending after the 2022 killing of Deborah Yakubu, a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, suggesting that it was recirculated to inflame tensions.

The statement expressed appreciation for the swift response of military and state security agencies regarding the emergence of the video. The diocese urged the public to disregard the false claims and conveyed Bishop Kukah's goodwill message to the community ahead of the Easter celebrations.
