Sokoto Police Deny Reports of Bandit Boat Mishap

Residents of Sokoto State and the Sokoto State Police Command have refuted claims of a boat mishap involving bandits in the Sabon Gida area. DSP Ahmad Rufa, the police spokesperson, labeled the reports as a "blatant lie," emphasizing that no incidents have been recorded in the state.

The area is characterized by a lack of significant water bodies, making drownings unlikely. Local residents, including members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly such as Aminu Boza, confirmed that no place called Sabon Gida exists within their constituency.

Malam Kabiru, a local, also stated that neither a boat mishap nor the location mentioned is known to the community. Abdullahi Ghani from the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) corroborated that there have been no records of such incidents.

Security analyst Bashar Altin Guyawa noted that similar unfounded claims have circulated in the past, highlighting the terrain's unsuitability for water-based accidents.
