NSCDC Arrests 12 Illegal Immigrants in Kwara State

On February 22, 2025, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended 12 illegal immigrants in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, Kwara State, after receiving a tip-off regarding their suspicious activities. The arrested individuals, identified as Umar Sangari (25), Bubu Bill (43), Modibo Keita (26), Mahmud Jaalo (22), Bakar Sumonu (20), Saiku Dubia (28), Panda Aboubacar (32), Mall Siaka (24), Seku Barri (34), Lamin Bakou (27), Bay Bolli (24), and Zuman Traor (26), were reportedly occupying a two-bedroom apartment rented through a local agent.

During the operation, the NSCDC recovered several items, including nine mobile phones, two international passports, identification cards, a wristwatch, and cash. The NSCDC Commandant, Bala Bodinga, stated that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the immigrants' presence and to determine any potential criminal links.

The suspects will be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and necessary action in accordance with existing immigration laws. Bodinga emphasized the commitment to ensuring Kwara State remains safe from criminal elements.
