NSCDC Arrests Nine for School Vandalism in Zamfara

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Zamfara Command, arrested nine suspects for vandalism and theft at Tsageru Primary School in Tsafe Local Government Area. The arrests followed a report from Mr Abdulrahman Aliyu, the Education Secretary of Tsafe LGA.

On September 8, at approximately 3:02 p.m., operatives apprehended Alhaji Haruna Amadu, 55, who identified eight accomplices involved in the theft of roofing zinc from three classrooms between September 5 and 8. The suspects, aged between 35 and 60, confessed to the crime and admitted to attempting to bribe traditional rulers, Sarkin Gabas Aliyu and Magaji Kabiru Salisu, who rejected the offer.

They intended to sell the stolen zinc to fund agricultural levies. The estimated damage to the school is N4.5 million.

Additionally, on September 10, Mr Emmanuel Okonkwo, 58, was arrested for drug-related offenses. The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to combat criminality and protect public infrastructure.
