NSCDC to Celebrate World Civil Defence Day 2026

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is preparing to commemorate World Civil Defence Day (WCDD) on March 1, 2026, under the theme "Managing Environmental Risk for a Resilient and Sustainable Future." According to a press release signed by Babawal Afolabi, the Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, the grand final celebration will occur on February 27, 2026, at the NSCDC national headquarters in Abuja, as March 1 falls on a Sunday. The Commandant General of NSCDC, Professor Ahm Abubakar Audi, has approved a comprehensive lineup of activities for the occasion, which includes a Jumat service, commemorative service, inter-directorate competitions, a tug-of-war contest, anniversary lectures, and the inauguration of new projects.

The event will be observed by zonal commands and state commands, emphasizing the NSCDC's commitment to protecting lives and safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure while managing disaster risks. Dignitaries from the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) and member countries are expected to attend.
