Oborevwori Critiques Delay in Warri Stadium Reconstruction

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori lamented the delay in the reconstruction of Warri City Stadium, which was initially agreed to be completed by December 2025 or April 2026. During an inspection tour on Tuesday, he expressed dissatisfaction with the contractor's progress and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to quality delivery and strict adherence to the contractual agreement.

Oborevwori criticized the quality of ongoing work, particularly the substandard temporary cladding, which he stated would not withstand the test of time. He maintained that the state government would not alter the existing contract and urged the contractor to deliver according to the agreement, warning that failure to do so would expose them to consequences.

The governor also revealed plans to renovate Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, which is intended to serve as a venue for the Nigeria national football team upon completion. Phillip Shaibu, the Director General of the National Institute of Sports, commended the project, emphasizing the collective effort required for quality work.
