Oborevwori Critiques Contractor Over Warri Stadium Delays

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori criticized the contractor responsible for the reconstruction of Warri City Stadium during an inspection tour on Tuesday. He expressed dissatisfaction with the project's progress, noting that the initial agreement stipulated completion by December.

Despite concerns over delays, Oborevwori commended the quality of the playing pitch but rejected aspects of the ongoing work, particularly the temporary cladding, which he deemed substandard. He emphasized that the state government would not alter the existing contract and warned that further failures to meet expectations would attract public scrutiny.

Oborevwori also mentioned the constraints that influenced the decision to renovate the existing stadium instead of constructing a new one, citing land limitations and the need to protect residents' livelihoods. He expressed optimism about the stadium's upgrade, which is expected to host major sporting events.

Additionally, he revealed plans to renovate Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba. Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, praised the project, noting that the stadium would meet modern football standards.
