Ogun Monarch Launches Adire Hub to Boost Local Industry

On Thursday, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, inaugurated an Adire Hub at the Ake Palace in Abeokuta, Ogun State. This initiative, promoted by Global Adire Egba Development Limited in collaboration with ICLED Business School, Lekki, Lagos, aims to enhance local Adire production and position the indigenous textile for both domestic and international markets.
Prof. Olajumoke Familoni, the Project Coordinator and President/Provost of ICLED Business School, stated that the hub will provide training, skills development, and access to financing for Adire producers. The initiative is part of the proposed Adire Village project, which seeks to combat imitation and the importation of adulterated Adire fabrics.
Familoni emphasized the potential of the Adire market, valued at over $1 billion in Nigeria, and called for government intervention funds to support the industry. Chief Yinka Kufile, representing the Alake, welcomed the hub's establishment, highlighting its importance for local producers and the Adire industry in Egbaland.
