Ogun Polytechnic Students Demand Justice for Ahmed Sekinat

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), South-West Zone, condemned the alleged killing of Ahmed Sekinat, a Higher National Diploma II student in the Department of Marketing at ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State. Sekinat reportedly died from a severe machete injury sustained during a suspected armed robbery, with several other students injured.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by General Secretary Musbau Mubarak, NAPS described the incident as “unfortunate and barbaric,” emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation and enhanced security for students. The association expressed concern over reports of a delayed response from security personnel during the incident, stating that such delays represent a failure in safeguarding lives.

NAPS called on the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Government, and ICT Polytechnic management to conduct an impartial investigation and demanded the arrest and prosecution of those responsible. They also extended condolences to Sekinat's family and reaffirmed their commitment to student safety, declaring, “Justice for Ahmed Sekinat.
