Security Agencies Investigate Student Murder in Ogun

Security agencies have initiated investigations into a robbery incident in the Eruku community that led to the death of a student from DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic and left others injured. The Students’ Union Government (SUG) announced this in a statement following a high-level security meeting on August 3, which included the institution’s management, traditional rulers, alumni representatives, and heads of security agencies in the Itori area.

The SUG, represented by President Okunuga Opeyemi, General Secretary Idris Amidat, and Public Relations Officer Caleb-Martins Hannah, stated that security agencies are conducting thorough investigations to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent future incidents. Additionally, discussions are ongoing with the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army regarding the establishment of a military base and checkpoint in the area.

The SUG has mandated students to carry valid school ID cards due to increased stop-and-search operations by security personnel. The union also expressed concerns over rising accommodation costs and persistent insecurity in student communities.
