Ogun Students Protest Killing, Block Abeokuta-Lagos Road

On Tuesday, students of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic in Itori, Ogun State, blocked the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway to protest the killing of a fellow student during a robbery attack in Eruku Community. The incident occurred overnight when armed robbers invaded approximately 15 houses, resulting in one student's death and injuries to three others.

Dr Goke Rafiu, the rector of the polytechnic, confirmed the attack and stated that one injured student was taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta. The institution's management, including Ambassador Toye Okanlawon, the Chairman of the Governing Council, engaged with police and community leaders to address security concerns.

The polytechnic postponed examinations scheduled for July 28 and 29 to honor the deceased and allow students time to recover emotionally. Comrade Owoigbe Blessing, the Students’ Union Government President, reported that the robbers struck around midnight and called for improved security measures in the area, citing previous similar attacks.
