Olesin Resigns from APC Over Internal Democracy Issues

Ibrahim Tajudeen Shola Olesin, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibagun Ward, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, announced his resignation from the party in a letter dated August 31, 2026. In his resignation letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman, Olesin expressed that his decision was based on careful reflection regarding the party's direction in Kwara State.

He criticized the APC for a lack of internal democracy, alleging that dissenting voices were suppressed and that decision-making had become centralized among a few individuals, leading to the marginalization of loyal members. Olesin emphasized that when a political party disregards the will of its base and its constitution, it loses moral authority.

He also raised concerns about inadequate attention to human capital development within the party. Despite his departure, he expressed gratitude to the ward chairman and fellow party members, stating that his resignation was based on "principle and conscience." Olesin's exit occurs amid political realignments in Kwara ahead of the 2027 general elections.
