Peter Obi Critiques APC's Handling of Corruption Allegations

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), criticized Nigeria’s political system during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today. He claimed that politicians accused of corruption often have those allegations disappear upon defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obi stated that there are no political parties in Nigeria with clear ideologies, asserting that the APC's ideology seems to be that corruption allegations are nullified when one joins the party. He emphasized the necessity for competent leaders with integrity and compassion, rather than those who switch parties for personal gain.

Obi accused the APC of deliberately weakening opposition parties, alleging that the crises affecting the African Democratic Congress (ADC), NDC, and previously the Labour Party (LP) were not coincidental. He expressed his commitment to protecting opposition parties if elected president.

Additionally, Obi dismissed the notion that endorsements from state governors would ensure President Bola Tinubu's victory in the 2027 presidential election, arguing that such support does not necessarily reflect the people's views.
