APC Intervenes in Ondo Assembly Speaker's Impeachment Crisis

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intervened in the impeachment proceedings against Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. Lawmakers have accused Oladiji of financial misconduct and abuse of office, particularly regarding an alleged ₦44 million transaction related to the reordering of the 2026 budget for the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).

Oladiji has denied these allegations, claiming the impeachment effort is politically motivated. In a meeting held on Friday, APC leaders and lawmakers involved in the dispute sought to mediate the crisis, urging all parties to maintain peace and the status quo while discussions continue.

A source indicated that lawmakers advocating for impeachment were advised to refrain from further action until the party's mediation efforts conclude. The source clarified that the intervention does not equate to withdrawing the allegations against Oladiji, emphasizing that the impeachment matter remains active while political intervention is sought.
