APC Secretary Critiques Opposition Over Resource Claims

Ajibola Basiru, the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissed recent criticisms from opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who expressed concerns about Nigeria becoming a one-party state under President Bola Tinubu's administration. Basiru stated that the opposition's complaints stem from their lost opportunities to plunder Nigeria's resources rather than genuine concern for citizens' welfare.

His comments were made during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, shortly after Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. Basiru highlighted the APC's achievements, including a reported increase in foreign reserves from $3 billion to $49 billion, and criticized the opposition for lacking credibility.

He also mentioned that the APC now controls 30 out of Nigeria's 36 states, leaving the PDP with only three states. The APC is preparing for state congresses, asserting that the defections reflect dissatisfaction with the opposition's performance.
