Duke Urges Opposition Unity Against APC for 2027 Elections

On Sunday, Donald Duke, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and former governor of Cross Rivers state, called for opposition politicians to prioritize collective goals over personal ambitions to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in Abuja, Duke identified the main challenge for the opposition as the inability to unify and work towards a common objective, rather than the strength of the APC.

He stressed that to effectively challenge the incumbent party, opposition figures must negotiate, compromise, and build coalitions focused on national development. Duke warned that pursuing individual presidential ambitions could divide the anti-APC vote, inadvertently strengthening the ruling party.

He urged the opposition to address pressing issues affecting Nigerians, such as the high cost of living and insecurity, and to present a credible alternative to the electorate. Duke concluded that the political class must first agree on solutions to the country's challenges before focusing on individual nominations.
