Akpabio Predicts Opposition Will Cry 'Rigging' in 2027

On Wednesday, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, predicted that the opposition parties would allege electoral manipulation if Bola Tinubu is re-elected in the 2027 presidential election. Akpabio made these remarks while receiving members of the Citi Boi Movement, a pro-Tinubu support group, during their courtesy visit to the National Assembly in Abuja.

He encouraged the group to intensify grassroots mobilization for Tinubu's re-election and expressed confidence in Tinubu's security for a second term, despite anticipated criticism from opposition movements. Akpabio emphasized the importance of having Tinubu's agents present at every polling unit to prevent a repeat of alleged vote losses from the 2023 elections.

He urged Nigerian youth to focus on political participation and avoid negative influences such as cultism and drug abuse. The Director General of the Citi Boi Movement, Franci Shoga, also visited to strengthen collaboration with the National Assembly and expand civic engagement programs across the country.
