Osun CP Calls for Peaceful Conduct Ahead of Elections

Ibrahim Gotan, the Commissioner of Police for Osun State, called on political parties and candidates to maintain peaceful conduct in the lead-up to the governorship election. During an interactive session at the state police headquarters in Osogbo, he urged stakeholders to work collaboratively to ensure a credible and violence-free electoral process.

Gotan advised political actors to notify the police and relevant security agencies about campaign rallies and gatherings in advance, allowing for adequate security arrangements and traffic management. He condemned the destruction and defacement of opponents' campaign materials, labeling such actions as unlawful and potentially provocative.

The Commissioner warned against thuggery and hate speech, stating that such behaviors could disrupt public peace and undermine the electoral atmosphere. He emphasized that no individual or political group is above the law and called for cooperation between political actors and law enforcement agencies to foster a peaceful environment during the elections.
