Osun PDP ALGON Rejects APC Protest Against Judiciary

The Osun State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) have expressed disagreement with the All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen over a protest held on Thursday. The PDP dismissed allegations that the current chairmen of local councils are disregarding court orders.

The protest, which took place at the entrance of the Osun State High Court, was organized by the APC chairmen to contest a court ruling regarding the management of local government allocations. Kolapo Olayanju, the chairman of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Authority, accused the Osun State judiciary and Governor Ademola Adeleke of ignoring court orders.

The PDP, represented by Sarafa Awotunde and Lukman Afolabi, labeled the protest as embarrassing and illegal, asserting that the APC chairmen have been occupying their positions unlawfully for 14 months, despite their tenure officially ending in October 2025. The PDP emphasized the need for respect for judicial rulings and the rule of law.
