FIFA Lifts Ban on Otamendi and Caicedo for 2026 World Cup

Both players received red cards during their final group match; Otamendi was shown a straight red for a professional foul, while Caicedo was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.

FIFA's decision, announced on a Friday, allows them to play in future matches despite the suspensions incurred during World Cup qualifiers. This decision follows a precedent set with Cristiano Ronaldo, who was also allowed to represent his nation despite similar circumstances.

Otamendi, representing Argentina, will be attending his fourth World Cup, while Chelsea midfielder Caicedo will be participating in his second tournament after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
