Oyo Police Arrest Six for Counterfeit Euro Currency

On September 1, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Oyo State Police Command arrested six individuals suspected of dealing in counterfeit currency, specifically €8,900 in fake Euro notes. The arrests occurred during a successful patrol operation in the Labo–Wesley area.

The suspects include Tijani Saheed, 50, who was found with the counterfeit currency; Oni Oladapo, 67, alleged to have supplied the money; Adebayo Saheed, 52, a passenger on the motorcycle; and Hammed Karemu, 25, the motorcycle rider. Following their arrest, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and directed police to the location where the counterfeit currency was allegedly purchased.

A forensic sweep of the premises led to the recovery of materials used in the production of the counterfeit notes and the arrest of an alleged producer, bringing the total number of suspects connected to the case to six. All suspects are currently in police custody and are cooperating with the investigation.
