Protests Erupt in Osun Over Alleged Killings in Transport Sector

Protests began around 7:30 AM in Osogbo, Osun State, as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) demonstrated against Nurudeen Alowonle, the faction chairman, over his alleged involvement in killings and violence that have disrupted the transport sector. Protesters carried placards demanding Alowonle's immediate arrest and heightened security measures.

The unrest led to major motor parks halting operations, stranding passengers and creating a significant public safety concern. Alhaji Fatai Oyegok, the state chairman, condemned Alowonle's actions, claiming they threaten peace and safety in the region.

Sikiru Oyeniyi alleged that Alowonle has been behind recent violent attacks, including the killing of individuals such as Adelodun Olamilekan. The situation has drawn attention from various transport bodies, with calls for law enforcement to intensify efforts to restore order and ensure public safety.
