Oyo Governor: Rescued Pupils and Teachers Under Care

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed that the 39 pupils and 5 teachers rescued from bandits will undergo medical observation for 48 hours to assess their health following their release. During a visit to the Nigerian Army Medical Services headquarters at Odogbo Barrack in Ibadan, the governor expressed gratitude for the successful rescue operation and commended the efforts of the security personnel involved.

He noted that the rescued individuals appeared physically weak and would require medical care and psychosocial support to overcome the trauma of their prolonged captivity. Governor Makinde also mentioned that arrangements were made for family members to visit the victims at the barracks, particularly highlighting the case of a young girl who repeatedly asked for her mother during captivity.

He urged Nigerians to remain united in facing security challenges during this difficult period.
