Plateau PDP Suspends Southern Zone Vice Chairman

The Plateau State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its Southern Zone Vice Chairman, Hon. Mankup Peter Tongshep, over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension takes immediate effect as announced by the party's state working committee in a statement issued on Thursday, signed by Hon. Choji Felix Dalyop, the state public secretary.

The action was taken in line with Section 57(1) of the PDP Constitution (2017 amendment), citing violations of Section 58(1)(j) following a preliminary hearing. During the suspension period, Tongshep is barred from performing his duties as vice chairman.

The matter has been referred to the state disciplinary committee for further investigation and recommendations, as per Section 57(3) of the party's constitution. This development occurs amidst a deepening crisis within the Plateau PDP, characterized by the emergence of a parallel leadership structure reportedly aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following a rejected congress outcome.
