Nigeria Police Arrest 50 Suspects Linked to Killings

On April 13, 2026, the Nigeria Police Force, through a statement signed by Anthony Placid, announced the arrest of 50 suspects connected to personnel killings and other crimes. This operation, which took place nationwide, aimed to target terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

During the raids, the police recovered high-grade weapons, including an anti-aircraft launcher, 17 rifles, 111 rounds of live ammunition, and various communication devices. Notably, the operation dismantled a 33-member gang linked to terror cattle rustling attacks on the Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State.

The arrests also included a 25-year-old suspect, Nasiru Ibrahim, from Benue State, who was found with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu reaffirmed the force's commitment to tackling insecurity, emphasizing that these arrests reflect intensified intelligence-driven policing efforts.

Investigations are ongoing to apprehend remaining suspects and recover illegal arms.
