Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of Girlfriend in Gombe

On June 9, 2026, Musa Adamu, a 35-year-old man, was arrested by the Gombe State Police Command for allegedly attempting to murder his girlfriend. The incident occurred in the early hours when Adamu reportedly gained unlawful access to the victim's residence in Riyal Quarter by scaling a fence and forcefully breaking into her room.

He allegedly attacked her with an iron hammer and attempted to strangle her using a USB cable while trying to rob her of 100,000 Naira. The victim raised an alarm, prompting Adamu to flee the scene.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Following a complaint lodged at the Pantami Division Police Headquarters, police operations led to Adamu's arrest at 9:45 AM the same day.

Investigators recovered the blood-stained iron hammer and USB cable believed to have been used in the attack. Preliminary investigations revealed that Adamu had previously requested money from the victim, a businesswoman, which she declined.

He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
