Mother and Daughter Arrested for Elderly Relative's Murder

The Enugu State Police Command confirmed the arrest of Loretta Asadu and her daughter Chikamso in connection with the murder of their 70-year-old relative, Mama Oliv Ezema, in the Nsukka Local Government Area. The incident took place on Tuesday, leaving the community in shock.

According to police spokesperson Daniel Ndukw, the investigation began following the discovery of the victim's death. Mama Oliv Ezema, a resident of Nru, had reportedly been living with Loretta, who is said to have been battling mental health challenges.

Sources indicated that Loretta's son, Abumchukwu, had left the house to buy food when the attack occurred. Allegations suggest that Loretta became violent and, with Chikamso, attacked Ezema with a weapon, leading to severe injuries that resulted in her death.

The victim's body has been deposited at a mortuary in Nsukka for autopsy, as the community mourns the violent death of the elderly woman.
