Yobe Police Arrest Seven for Phone Snatching and Burglary

On April 16-19, 2026, the Yobe State Police Command arrested seven suspects linked to a criminal syndicate involved in phone snatching and burglary in Damaturu. The operation, coordinated by the police, resulted in the apprehension of suspects identified as Usman Mohd (20), Abubakar Adamu (20), Mohd Ibrahim (22), Mohd Goni (19), Khalifa Mohd (19), Abubakar Moham (19), and Ali Moham (23).

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to multiple criminal acts, including a series of burglaries and phone thefts. They admitted to stealing seven Android phones and two keypad phones, with six of the stolen devices already recovered.

Dungu Abdulkarim, the police spokesperson, stated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be prosecuted upon completion. The Commissioner of Police, Usman Kafani Jibrin, commended the operation and emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven policing, urging the public to support law enforcement efforts.
