Troops Arrest Suspected Foreign National in Yobe

On April 3, 2023, at approximately 03:09 AM, troops from the 233 Tank Battalion, part of the Troop Joint Task Force North East, conducted a checkpoint operation along the Damaturu-Potiskum road in Yobe State. They arrested a 31-year-old suspected foreign national identified as Abdulrazak Muhammad, who is described as Ghanaian from Accra.

At the time of his arrest, he was found without valid identification and was in possession of three mobile phones without SIM cards, a handwritten notebook, and a small amount of foreign currency estimated to be 3 Ghanaian cedis and 50 pesewas. During preliminary questioning, Muhammad provided inconsistent accounts of his movements, claiming to have traveled from Mali, Ghana, and Nigeria.

His incoherent responses regarding his travel destination and purpose raised further security concerns, leading to his custody for further investigation to determine his movements and any possible security implications.
