Police Investigate Military Shooting of Adamawa Businessman

The Adamawa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the alleged shooting of businessman Suleiman Abubakar by military personnel in Mubi North Local Government Area. The incident was reported on August 3, 2026, by Mr.

Muslim Abubakar, who stated that his brother sustained a gunshot injury during an encounter with military personnel on the night of August 2, 2026. Following the report, police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi North Division, visited the scene and ensured that Suleiman Abubakar received prompt medical attention.

He was initially taken to a medical facility in Mubi and later referred to a higher medical facility in Yola for further treatment. Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.

The police have also contacted relevant military authorities to ensure cooperation during the investigation. The command has appealed for calm and encourages anyone with information to assist in the investigation.
