Cleaner Arrested for Stealing ₦18m Car in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command arrested a 26-year-old cleaner, Mohan Dan Azumi, for allegedly stealing a 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport valued at approximately ₦18 million. The arrest occurred following a report from the vehicle's owner, a doctor serving in the National Youth Service Corps, who had entrusted the vehicle to Azumi for washing.

After Azumi absconded with the vehicle, the police acted swiftly, launching an intelligence-led operation coordinated from Yola, which ultimately led to his arrest in Kano State. The stolen vehicle was successfully recovered.

SP Suleiman Nguroj, the command's spokesman, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday. CP Kabiru Hassan, the Commissioner of Police for Adamawa State, commended the professionalism and dedication of the investigative team and reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating all forms of crime.

The suspect will be arraigned upon the conclusion of the investigation.
