Police Arrest Two for ₦39M Bank Theft in Borno

The Borno State Police Command arrested two suspects, Ibrahim Alhaji Gaji, 23, and Umar Moham, known as Baba Alhaji, 39, in connection with the fraudulent withdrawal of ₦39,208,000 from a bank account. The investigation was initiated after a complaint was received on April 17, 2026, reporting that unknown individuals had unlawfully accessed the bank account in the Bolori area of Maiduguri.

Following the investigation, the police's crack squad utilized digital forensic techniques, leading to the suspects' arrest on June 27, 2026. During the operation, ₦10,080,000 was recovered.

The police are continuing efforts to recover the outstanding balance and apprehend additional individuals linked to the crime. Naziru Abdulmajid, the Commissioner of Police, reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating cybercrime and financial fraud, advising the public to report any suspicious financial transactions to the nearest police station.
