Adamawa Police Investigate DPO Over Bail Extortion Claims

The Adamawa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into allegations against the Divisional Police Officer of Jambutu Division concerning arbitrary arrests, unlawful detention, and bail extortion. This announcement was made in a statement on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.

The investigation follows a publication demanding the removal of the Jambutu DPO due to these allegations. The command has emphasized that it does not tolerate any form of professional misconduct, including arbitrary arrests and extortion, and reiterated that bail is free.

Police officers are warned against demanding money from the public for bail. The command encourages anyone with relevant information to assist the investigation by providing specific details and evidence, which can be submitted to the State Criminal Investigation Department headquarters in Yola or any nearby police formation.
