Gombe Police Recover 119 Rounds of AK-47 Ammunition

On May 19, 2026, the Gombe State Police Command recovered 119 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition concealed in a sack along Kalshingi Road in Kwadon, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area. The recovery was announced by DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who stated that the police acted on credible information received at the division police office around 10:30 AM.

Upon investigation, the police discovered the suspicious white sack hidden near a tree opposite a graveyard along the road. The search revealed the sack contained 119 rounds of live ammunition, two empty ammunition packets, and two bottles containing moringa seeds.

Following the discovery, the police conducted operations in the surrounding bush area but did not arrest any suspects. The command has intensified monitoring and surveillance in the area and is investigating to identify and apprehend those connected to the concealed ammunition.

Commissioner of Police Bello Yahaya commended the public for providing timely information and urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies.
