Zamfara Police Rescue Five Abducted Travelers in Operation

On June 10 at 7 p.m., the Zamfara State Police Command received a distress call regarding armed bandits who had barricaded the Anka-Bukkuyum road and abducted five travelers. DSP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the police command, reported that a swift response from the Anti-Violent Crime Response Unit led to the mobilization of a police team to the scene.

The operation involved pursuing the suspects into the bush, where a gun battle ensued. The police, facing superior firepower, determinedly engaged the bandits, who eventually abandoned their mission and fled into the forest.

During the operation, the police successfully rescued all five victims unharmed and recovered two motorcycles believed to belong to the bandits. DSP Yazid Abubakar reiterated the command's commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state and urged the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to aid their efforts in combating crime.
