Police Raid SDP Headquarters Amid Adebayo's Screening

On Thursday, tensions escalated at the Social Democratic Party (SDP) headquarters in Nigeria when police reportedly stormed the premises shortly after the presidential screening of former SDP presidential candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo. Adebayo alleged that the police action was orchestrated by President Bola Tinubu to disrupt the SDP's presidential nomination process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He accused Tinubu of attempting to impose a one-man rule in the country, claiming that loyalists of the president were behind the operation at the party's secretariat. Adebayo specifically mentioned SDP chieftains James Falek and Joash Amupitan, alleging that there was a plan to destabilize the party's internal processes to prevent the emergence of an SDP standard bearer.

He stated that Tinubu's actions were cowardly and that he would not be afraid of competition. The police operation created panic among party officials, but there was no official reaction from the Nigerian police force regarding the incident.
