Kano Police Suspend Tashe Performance Over Security Concerns

The Kano State Police Command, led by CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, has announced the suspension of the Tashe performance, a cultural event that typically occurs on the tenth day of Ramadan. This decision follows consultations with the state government and is aimed at preventing potential criminal activities that could exploit the gathering of participants, often involving young men and women in comic costumes.

The police have put in place adequate security measures to ensure law and order during Ramadan. Ibrahim Bakori, the police commissioner, has urged parents and guardians to cooperate with security agencies in monitoring children and discouraging any actions that could breach public peace.

The police warned that anyone found violating the law would face full consequences. The command wishes the people of Kano a peaceful and successful Ramadan fast.
