13 Arrested for Stealing Materials at Lagos Airport

The Airport Police Command in Lagos announced plans to arraign 13 suspects arrested for allegedly stealing building materials from construction sites at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The arrests took place on July 30 during a coordinated patrol by the Joint Monitoring Task Force, which aims to protect critical national infrastructure.

The suspects were found in possession of high-value copper cables, iron components, and other materials taken from the construction site. They were subsequently transferred to the International Airport Police Division for further investigation and prosecution.

The suspects include Ibrahim Hassan, Haruna Yaya, Ali Muhammed, Walid Shaibu, Idris Musa, Aliu Musa, Mustapha Umaru, Timothy Joseph, Isa Adamu, Musa Abdullahi Hassan, Mamuda Ibrahim, Mukhtar Aliyu, and Ibrahim Jidda. Despite previous prosecutions for similar offenses in April 2026, criminal activities targeting construction sites persist.

The Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, praised the Task Force's efforts and emphasized the importance of airport safety and security.
