NDC Forms Reconciliation Committee Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) inaugurated a seven-member national reconciliation committee on Thursday, chaired by Prof Pat Utomi and co-chaired by Buba Galadima. This initiative aims to resolve disputes stemming from the party's primary elections in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

The establishment of the committee follows an increase in court cases filed by dissatisfied aspirants contesting the primary outcomes. The committee will engage with aspirants nationwide to address grievances.

It includes Mohammed Takori as vice chairman, Babatunde Alli as secretary, and members Mrs Dudu Mamman Manuga, Salvador Moshood, and Haruna Pai. Additionally, three zonal sub-committees will be formed for the North, South-East, and South-South regions.

The northern sub-committee is led by Mainasara Abubakar, the South-East by Victor Umeh, and the South-South by Ben Birabi. Candidates have expressed gratitude to NDC National Leader Seriake Dickson for his role in resolving disputes and praised the recent publication of candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which alleviated concerns regarding the nomination process.
