Public Enlightenment Key to CCB's Accountability Drive

On Thursday, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of State, highlighted the critical role of public enlightenment in the Code of Conduct Bureau's (CCB) mandate to promote accountability and transparency in Nigeria's public service. During a courtesy visit to Dr.

Abdullahi Usman Bello, the Chairman of the CCB, Idris reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to strengthening institutions and collaborating to combat corruption. He noted that public enlightenment is essential in preventing corrupt and unethical conduct among public servants.

Idris pointed out that many public servants are unaware of the CCB's role, which extends beyond asset declaration to include preventing infractions before they occur. He emphasized that the CCB's primary duty is to prevent violations rather than merely enforcing penalties after offenses have been committed.

The Minister called for sustained institutional collaboration and continuous engagement to achieve significant impacts in the fight against corruption.
