Rivers Police Rescue Abducted Girls, Arrest Suspects

On March 16, 2023, two teenage girls, Beauti Effiong Edem (15) and Joi Ekp Effiong (16) from Akwa Ibom State, were abducted by an unknown woman. Following intelligence reports, the Rivers State Police Command conducted a raid at Honei Citi Hotel in Yenagoa, leading to the rescue of the victims and the arrest of several suspects.

Among those arrested were Obot Sandi Okori (42), the hotel manager; Emma Mondai (33), the chief security officer; and Glori Obot Okori (32), the hotel owner's wife. Additionally, 17 female suspects involved in prostitution during the operation were apprehended.

The police also discovered a 10-year-old girl, Gift Etim, who was allegedly forced into prostitution and was rescued. The arrested suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, and the Rivers State Police Command has urged the public to provide information to help identify the perpetrators.
