Senate Honors Fallen Heroes in Oyo Rescue Mission

On a Tuesday session, the Nigerian Senate honored three security personnel who lost their lives during a military operation aimed at rescuing abducted students and teachers in Oriir Local Government Area, Oyo State. The operation, which lasted 56 days, resulted in the successful rescue of 39 pupils and seven teachers, with eight suspects apprehended.

The Senate, led by Opeyemi Bamidele, adopted a motion calling on the Federal Government to intensify efforts against terrorist groups and ensure immediate settlement of benefits due to the families of the deceased personnel. President Bola Tinubu praised the military's commitment to national security and ordered the deployment of all available resources for the unconditional release of victims.

The Senate also urged the government to improve military intelligence operations and provide modern equipment to enhance security efforts. The fallen personnel were Lieutenant Isaac N, Private Sila Musa, and Sergeant Abena John, with Corporal Adamu Hussain sustaining injuries during the operation.
