Shehu Sani Warns Nigerians About Political Promises

Senator Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Central, has called on Nigerians to critically evaluate political promises as the 2027 general election approaches. He shared a list of 16 pledges on his official X account, urging citizens to treat these promises with suspicion.

Sani described the nature of such pledges as "bourgeoisie" and highlighted that they have historically been made by politicians but rarely fulfilled. The promises include commitments such as never changing political parties, serving only one term, restructuring Nigeria, and ensuring that no ethnic or religious favoritism occurs.

He also mentioned economic pledges like not borrowing, restoring subsidies, and making the Naira equal to the dollar. Sani's warning comes after he resigned from the African Democratic Congress on May 2, 2026, and was ratified as the presidential candidate of the NDC on May 29, 2026.

His list reflects long-standing grievances among Nigerians regarding issues like fuel subsidy and education costs.
