Shettima Returns to Nigeria After UNGA Engagements

Vice President Kashim Shettima returned to Nigeria after leading the country's delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States. He traveled to New York on September 20, assigned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the UNGA, Shettima presented Nigeria's national statement, advocating for reforms in the UN Security Council to include permanent representation for Africa, improved access to global financing, and enhanced climate action cooperation. He participated in the Third High-Level Roundtable of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group, discussing strategies for African nations to derive more value from their natural resources.

Additionally, he represented Nigeria at a high-level meeting on education financing, reaffirming the government's commitment to education as a driver of economic growth and supporting the Global Partnership for Education's campaign to raise $5 billion for developing countries. Shettima also engaged with the Nigerian diaspora and met with ECOWAS leadership and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J.
