Yemisi Shyllon Museum Enhances Cultural Tourism in Nigeria

The Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art (YSMA) hosted a familiarization visit for members of the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) to strengthen cultural tourism and position Ibeju-Lekki as an emerging tourism hub. This visit marked the first official engagement between the museum and the national body of tour operators.

Led by NATOP President Bolaji Mustapha, the delegation engaged in strategic discussions focused on tourism development and heritage preservation. The museum aims to expand its role within the rapidly developing Ibeju-Lekki corridor, which includes notable destinations such as La Campagne Tropicana and Eleko Beach.

Jess Castellot, the museum director, emphasized the importance of cultural institutions in enhancing Nigeria's visibility in global tourism. Enas Okonedo, Vice Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to promoting cultural education and tourism.

The museum, which opened in 2020, is Nigeria's first purpose-built private university museum and seeks to create new collaborative opportunities with tour operators nationwide.
