Anambra Urges Transporters to Resume Monday Operations

The Anambra State government is appealing to commercial transport operators to fully resume operations on Mondays, which have been affected by a sit-at-home order. Dr. Law Mefor, the state commissioner, highlighted the critical role of the transport sector in reviving the state's economy, particularly on Mondays when business activities are significantly impacted.

He noted that the lack of adequate commercial vehicles has hindered operations for civil servants and traders, affecting banking and school functions. Patricia Igwebuik, the commission for transport, explained the importance of a training program aimed at equipping commercial drivers and riders with essential skills and knowledge to navigate the state's transport sector effectively.

This initiative is in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Rotary International District 9142, aiming to promote road safety and improve the livelihoods of transport operators, thereby contributing to the overall economic growth of Anambra State.
