Baby Rescued from Fire in Ogbomoso, Oyo State

On July 11, 2026, at approximately 8:38 PM, a fire broke out in a private residential building comprising three rooms in Olomi Compound, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, due to an unattended gas leak. The Oyo State Fire Service received a distress call from Abiodun Mayowa, the occupant of the house.

Fire personnel, led by PF II Oluwaley, promptly mobilized to the scene and discovered the ground floor engulfed in flames. The firefighting crew successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the upper floor and adjoining properties.

A six-month-old baby was rescued alive from the burning building. Morrof Akinwand, the chairman of the fire service reform agency, confirmed the incident and emphasized the importance of fire safety measures.

He urged the public to observe basic fire safety precautions and ensure proper installation and regular inspection of LPG cylinders and gas appliances.
